The summer is almost over, however, there are still a few more big festivals on their way like Reading and Leeds, V Festival and Bestival. Many people go to enjoy a few days of music, fun and hopefully sunshine. However, with festival goers packing expensive gadgets like smartphones, iPads, iPods and speakers this may be a disaster about to happen.
Many 18-24 year olds think they don’t need to insure their gadgets and many are put off by the cost. This isn’t due to lack of love for their gadgets, however. Only a fifth of 18 – 24 year olds have taken out cover for their mobile phones, despite claiming that it’s one of the most important things they own (stats according to comparethemarket.com).
If your gadgets are protected under your home insurance policy, make sure you double check that you are actually covered before heading to a festival. Not all policies will insure items outside the home. If it doesn’t, keep any unnecessary items at home. Are you going to be using your iPad when you’re at a festival anyway?
So if you are going to insure your items, they can be covered through your home insurance policy or taken out a separate policy. However, make sure you understand the terms and conditions of your policy and any exclusions (items that aren’t covered) so you know what you are protected for.
